DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) has issued a notification regarding the appointment of Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to oversee the upcoming electoral proceedings for the Bogura-6 and Sherpur-3 parliamentary constituencies.
The notification, signed by EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, was issued today.
The directive facilitates the administration of the by-poll for the vacant Bogura-6 seat of the 13th National Parliament and the general election for the Sherpur-3 constituency.
According to the official notification, the Senior District Election Officer of Bogura and the District Election Officer of Sherpur have been designated as the Returning Officers for the Bogura-6 and Sherpur-3 constituencies, respectively.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the polls, the EC has also designated Assistant Returning Officers for each constituency.
For the Bogura-6 by-election, the Additional District Election Officer of Bogura and the Sadar Upazila Election Officer have been appointed.
For the Sherpur-3 constituency, the Sribardi Upazila Election Officer and the Jhenaigati Upazila Election Officer will serve as Assistant Returning Officers.
Following the appointment announcement today afternoon, the Election Commission released the formal poll schedule for the two seats.
The elections are scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2026, with continuous voting held from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM using paper ballots and transparent ballot boxes.
The issuance of the schedule and the formal appointment of these Returning and Assistant Returning Officers by the Election Commission serve as the official confirmation of the timeline and administrative readiness for the upcoming polls in these two parliamentary seats.
