CHATTOGRAM, Feb 21, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin has said that an integrated development plan will be implemented to accelerate the overall progress of Chattogram.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at Shah Amanat International Airport on Saturday morning after returning to his hometown district for the first time since taking oath as a State Minister.
Mir Helal said Chattogram had remained neglected over the past 17 years and stressed that the government is committed to transforming the port city into a true commercial capital. He affirmed that this commitment would be maintained and reflected in concrete development initiatives.
The State Minister, who is also a Member of Parliament from Chattogram-5 (Hathazari-Bayezid Bostami), said he would work to engage young people in building a better Bangladesh. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to implement the party's 31-point agenda and to address the region's longstanding challenges.
Highlighting inclusive development, he said progress must benefit all communities, including hill people and Bengalis alike. He acknowledged the important role played by leaders and activists of Chattogram in political movements and expressed gratitude to the people for placing their trust in him.
