DHAKA, Feb 21, 2026 (BSS) – The wife of former Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Md Shafiqur Rahman has given a confessional statement at a Dhaka court in a case filed at Uttara West Police Station over the torture of an 11-year-old domestic worker.
After a seven-day remand, police produced the accused, Bithi, in court today. Upon the request of the case’s investigation officer, she voluntarily agreed to give a confessional statement in court, which was formally recorded by Metropolitan Magistrate Ismail Hossain.
Following the recording, the court ordered her detention in jail, Tahmina Akter, sub-inspector of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Prosecution Division told BSS.
Earlier, on Feb 1, Shafiqur Rahman and his wife were arrested from their residence in Sector-9, Uttara, Dhaka. They were produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court the next day, Feb 2.
The investigation officer requested that they be remanded in jail until completion of the investigation. Meanwhile, their lawyer applied for bail, but after hearing both sides, Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed rejected the bail application and ordered their detention.
For a thorough investigation of the case, the investigation officer later sought a seven-day remand. The court scheduled the remand hearing on Feb 10, and Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain approved the seven-day remand after the hearing.
