KHULNA, Feb 11, 26 (BSS) - Bangladesh Army today warned that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The warning came at a press briefing held this afternoon at Shibbari intersection in the city as part of a joint patrol drill conducted by law enforcement agencies.
Commanding officer of Army Camp (17 Bir) Lt. Col. Tayef addressed the briefing.
He said the Army has been working at the grassroots level in Khulna district for the last one and a half years.
“The Navy, BGB, RAB, Coast Guard, Police, various intelligence agencies and the Election Commission are jointly working in the election field to ensure a peaceful environment,” he added.
Lt. Col. Tayef said joint forces have set up camps at different locations in Khulna since February 6 to perform security duties.
“Necessary measures have been taken to ensure that voters can cast their ballots in a safe and secure environment. Everyone will be able to vote without fear,” he added.
He further said surveillance has been strengthened at every polling centre and efforts will be made to reach any centre quickly if needed.
“If anyone tries to disrupt the election, strict action will be taken against them,” he said.
The joint patrol drill was conducted at Shibbari intersection as part of the overall security arrangements ahead of the election.
