Injured July fighter Ashraful dies, Tarique Rahman stands beside his family

DHAKA, Feb 08, 2026 (BSS) – A July fighter Ashraful, who was shot during the 2024 July Uprising and had been undergoing treatment for one and a half years, died on Sunday morning.

Ashraful passed away at 8am today while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka.

After hearing the news, BNP Chairman and Chief Patron of ‘Amra BNP Paribar’, Tarique Rahman, has stood beside the family of martyr Ashraful.

Under the directive of Tarique Rahman, Member Secretary of Amra BNP Paribar, agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun, immediately visited the family of July martyr Ashraful.

During the visit, Mithun conveyed a message of sympathy on behalf of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and assured all necessary assistance for completing the burial, as well as continued support for the family in the future.

On August 5, 2024, Ashraful was shot in the head during the student people uprising in Mirpur 10. He was rescued in critical condition and initially treated in the country before being flown to Thailand for advanced medical care.

After receiving treatment in Thailand for a period of 14 months, he was sent back to Bangladesh on February 4 this year and had been undergoing treatment in the ICU of the National Institute of Neuroscience.
