DHAKA, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS) - A contingent of the Bangladesh Navy today
conducted raids at different areas of Bhola and Moheshkhali and detained two
people with local and foreign-made arms and ammunition.
A part of its countrywide drive in its assigned areas to strengthen the
overall security and curb crime in view of the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad
(JS) Polls and Referendum-2026, said a release of Inter Services Public
Relations (ISPR) Directorate this evening.
Based on secret information, the naval contingent deployed in Bhola Sadar, in
coordination with the Bangladesh Coast Guard and the police, conducted a raid
at a tin-shed house adjacent to the Barkandaj Jame Mosque in Baliakandi area
of Dhania Union in Bhola district, it said.
The naval force arrested two-- Selim Kazi and Md Hasan, a very close
accomplice of Jamal Uddin alias Soket Jamal.
During the drive, a single-barrel domestic pipe gun, a single-barrel gun, two
domestic weapons, three rounds of shotgun cartridges, 12 rounds of live
ammunition and one rocket parachute flare were recovered.
Meanwhile, the Maheshkhali naval contingent, in another raid, at a house in
Panerchhora area of Kalarmarchhara Union of Moheshkhali upazila recovered two
domestic single-barrel guns, one live cartridge, six domestic weapons, the
ISPR said.
After the raid, the recovered weapons, ammunition and the arrestees were
handed over to the concerned police stations for legal action.
The Navy has been conducting regular operations to prevent drugs, terrorism
and all criminal activities in the areas under its responsibility to maintain
the overall security and law and order situation in the country.
Besides, over 5,000 Navy personnel are actively working at the field level to
organise the upcoming national polls and referendum 2026 in a free, fair and
peaceful manner, the ISPR added.
