CHATTOGRAM, Feb 6, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) has taken disciplinary action against 15 employees for allegedly creating chaos and engaging in anti-state activities during an ongoing movement at the port.
The CPA has also requested the Ministry of Shipping to prevent the accused employees from leaving the country and to investigate their assets, as inquiries into the allegations continue.
CPA Personnel Officer Nasir Uddin confirmed the matter, saying the decision was communicated through an office order signed by CPA Chairman Syed Refaet Hashim on Thursday evening.
According to the order, the 15 employees have been transferred and attached to the Mongla Port Authority and Payra Port Authority in the public interest under Section 50 of the CPA Act, 2022.
Those transferred include audit assistants, engine drivers, steno-typists, higher external assistants, ECM drivers and masons. The order alleged that the employees created disorder in the port area and took part in anti-state activities under the guise of a movement.
Investigations are under way to verify the allegations. To prevent the accused from leaving the country during the probe, the CPA has requested to impose a travel ban on them.
The office order also sought the intervention of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the movable and immovable assets of the accused employees and to take legal action if evidence of illegal wealth is found.
Among the 15 employees are Md Humayun Kabir and Md Ibrahim Khokon, coordinators of the Chattogram Port Protection Movement Council. They have been transferred to Mongla and Payra ports respectively.
Others named in the order are Md Faridur Rahman, Md Shafi Uddin, Rashidul Islam, Abdullah Al Mamun, Md Zahirul Islam, Khandaker Masuduzzaman, Md Humayun Kabir (SS Painter), Md Shakil Raihan, Manik Mizhi, Md Shamsu Mia, Md Liaquat Ali, Aminur Rasul Bulbul and Md Rabbani.
Copies of the order have been sent to the Ministry of Shipping, the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the director general of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and other concerned senior officials for information and necessary action.
