DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will train 60,000 drivers across the country to enhance road safety and develop skilled manpower.
An agreement to this effect was signed today between the Bangladesh Road Safety Project, under the Road Transport and Highways Division and the BRTC.
The signing ceremony took place at the conference room of the Road Transport and Highways Division in the capital.
Director of the Bangladesh Road Safety Project Mohammad Sabbir Hasan Khan signed the agreement on behalf of the project, while BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Mollah signed it on behalf of the corporation.
Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division Dr. Mohammed Ziaul Haque attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Senior officials of the Road Transport and Highways Division, the Roads and Highways Department, three Project Implementation Units (PIUs) of the Bangladesh Road Safety Project, and representatives of development partners, including the World Bank, were present at the event.
The Government of Bangladesh, with joint financing from the World Bank, has undertaken the 'Bangladesh Road Safety Project' to address road safety challenges, accelerate development momentum and ensure sustainable development.
The project aims to reduce road traffic fatalities and serious injuries and to enhance the road safety management capacity of the concerned agencies.
The training programme will be conducted at BRTC's 27 training institutes across the country.
The initiative is expected to produce skilled drivers, contribute to human resource development and help reduce unemployment.
