DHAKA, Feb 4, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam today said if BNP comes to power, the party will work to decentralize healthcare services.
"Healthcare must be decentralized. Almost all advanced medical treatment is currently Dhaka-centric. This trend must be changed," he said.
Rafiqul Islam was addressing a views-exchange meeting with doctors, officers, and employees of Faridpur Medical College Hospital, as part of BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman's nationwide election tour.
He said a comprehensive healthcare service will be ensured on a priority basis in every district, upazila, and division. Step by step, all types of medical services-including treatment for heart disease, dialysis, and cancer-will be introduced there, he said.
"We want a healthcare system where modern services are ensured for everyone. By modernizing the existing healthcare system for mothers and children, a fully digital healthcare system will be delivered to every household. As a result, every person will be able to access their health-related information from home," he said.
Later, he distributed leaflets outlining BNP's nation-building plans among doctors of various levels, nurses, officers and employees, patients, and patients' attendants at the hospital.
At that time, he also highlighted the party's healthcare plan, agriculture card, family card, and various other programs.
Faridpur Medical College Vice-Principal Dr. Khan Muhammad Arif, former Joint Health Affairs Secretary of Jubo Dal Dr. Jahangir Hossain, Dr. Mizan, Dr. Sifat, heads of various departments, doctors of different levels, and officers and employees were present.
