DHAKA, 4 Feb, 2026 (BSS) - BNP has launched a free Wi-Fi service in the Korail slum of Dhaka-17 constituency ahead of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad polls.

BNP Joint Secretary General (International Affairs) Humayun Kabir inaugurated the service at the Jamai Bazar field in Korail slum this morning at an event organized by 'Chetona Bangladesh'.

Speaking on the occasion, Humayun Kabir said that if BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is elected on February 12 polls, the country will not only get a Prime Minister but also a social and economic reformer.

He expressed the optimism that under Tarique Rahman's leadership, overall development, including the education and health systems, would reach unprecedented heights.

"In the electoral competition, the recent activities of the candidate from Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh show more tendencies of hooliganism than social service."

Referring to some recent incidents, the BNP leader alleged that misconduct with army officers in the Cantonment area and incidents like entering a bank and beating up the manager have created public concern.

Humayun Kabir further said, "As seen in history, some people speak in the name of Islam while their real goal is power, and similar concerns have arisen in this case as well. A party is acting recklessly as the election enters its final phase."

He called upon the voters to vote for the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol on February 12 election to strengthen Tarique Rahman's hand and said that BNP is and will remain with the people.

Engineer Faisal Salam, Chairman of ‘Chetona Bangladesh’, said that from today, free Wi-Fi is being launched in this area of Korail. All smart device users, especially students, will now get free internet access.

He said ‘Chetona Bangladesh’ is an apolitical organization that has been working for people's welfare for many years. Not only in Dhaka-17 constituency, but the organization has taken various social initiatives in different parts of the country, including during the Covid period.
