DHAKA, Feb 05, 2026 (BSS) – BNP nominated candidate for Dhaka-2 (Keraniganj and Savar) constituency Aman Ullah Aman has said there is significant potential to expand the garments industry to Keraniganj due to its geographic location and smooth transportation facilities.

In a recent interview with Staff Reporter of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Obaidur Rahman, he said if elected, he would establish new garment factories in the area, turning it into an industrial city.

Existing industrial units would also be modernized creating substantial employment opportunities, particularly for women and young people, he added.
Aman said creating employment opportunities would not only reduce unemployment but also accelerate economic development and ensure social stability in the area.

The BNP leader highlighted his past contributions to industrial development in Dhaka-2, noting that the establishment of Rohitpur BSCIC Industrial City facilitated creation of garment and other factories, generating extensive local employment opportunities.

“In the future, we will ensure even more job creation through further expansion of industrial cities and the garment sector,” he said.
Aman added, “Employment creation will not only drive economic growth but also reduce social problems. If young people have jobs, they will stay away from crime and drugs.”

Aman emphasised that developing a skilled workforce is equally important, saying, “My plans include increasing coordination between industrial units and technical training centres and vocational institutions to equip the workforce with the necessary skills.”

On health and social welfare, Aman said, in line with BNP central directives, multiple programmes will be implemented for the benefit of local residents.
In this context, he mentioned party chairman Tarique Rahman’s initiatives, including family cards, health cards, unemployment allowance, and farmer cards.

“Family cards will help people purchase essential goods, health cards will provide free medical care and medicine, allowances will be given to unemployed youth, and farmers will receive free fertilizer and seeds. These initiatives will play a vital role in improving people’s living standards,” he said.

Regarding the election code of conduct, Aman said he and his supporters are strictly following Election Commission’s guidelines in this regard and will continue to do so.

On the July Charter and the referendum, Aman said BNP respects those who were martyred during the July–August mass uprising and is committed to implementing the July Charter.

He added that the party has decided to vote ‘Yes’ in the referendum and has instructed party activists accordingly.

Expressing optimism about the upcoming national election, Aman said an impartial, free and fair election would be held under the interim government, allowing people to exercise their franchise in a peaceful, festive environment after 17 years.

According to Election Commission data, Dhaka-2 has a total of 419,216 voters, including 217,908 male voters, 201,299 female voters, and 9 third-gender voters. There are 3,875 postal voters and 141 polling centres in the constituency.

Other candidates contesting the seat include Colonel (rtd) Mohammad Abdul Haque (Daripalla), nominated by the 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and Md Jahirul Islam (Hatpakha) of Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
