DHAKA, Feb 02, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the attachment of four
plots measuring 24 kathas in total at the Ananda Housing Society residential
project in Rupganj of Narayanganj district, registered in the name of former
National Board of Revenue (NBR) member (Customs and Excise) Md Matiur Rahman.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order
following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the ACC application, Matiur Rahman concealed information of
assets worth Taka 1.27 crore by submitting false and baseless details with
dishonest intent in the wealth statement submitted to the commission.
The ACC further alleged that by abusing power through dishonest means, he
acquired and possessed assets worth Taka 5.28 crore that are disproportionate
to his known sources of income, prompting the commission to file the case.
During the investigation of the case, some assets registered in the accused's
name were seized and frozen in three phases by court order.
The application also stated that information gathered from various sources
revealed the accused was attempting to sell or transfer his movable and
immovable properties. If the illegally acquired assets are transferred,
converted or sold before disposal of the case, it would cause serious loss to
the state.
Therefore, the court found it necessary to immediately seize the properties
registered in the name of the accused.
