DHAKA, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the attachment of land
worth Taka 2.64 crore registered under 171 deeds in Cumilla in the name of
Nassa Group Chairman Nazrul Islam Majumder.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order
following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the ACC application, Nazrul Islam Majumder allegedly abused his
power and amassed assets worth Taka 781.31 crore through bribery and
corruption, which are disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The ACC filed the case on charges of illegally acquiring and possessing the
assets.
By court orders, some assets registered in the name of the accused were
seized and frozen in four phases. During the investigation, information from
various sources revealed that the accused was attempting to sell or transfer
his movable and immovable properties. If the illegally acquired assets are
transferred, converted or sold before disposal of the case, it would cause
irreparable loss to the state.
Therefore, the court found it necessary to immediately seize the properties
registered in the name of the accused.
