DHAKA, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims in Bangladesh and across the world on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Barat, wishing continued happiness, peace and prosperity for all.

In a message marking the holy Sheb-e-Barat, he said, “Shab-e-Barat is one of the most sacred nights of the month of Shaban, carrying immense religious significance. The word ‘Barat’ means salvation or deliverance, and on this night Almighty Allah opens the doors of His mercy and compassion for His devotees.”

Highlighting the spiritual importance of the night, the BNP Chairman said Shab-e-Barat heralds the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan. On this blessed night, devoted believers spend their time seeking closeness to Allah, praying for forgiveness for their mistakes, shortcomings, and sins, and engaging in righteous deeds to attain Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.

He noted that one of the key significances of Shab-e-Barat is the opportunity for salvation. Faithful Muslims pray to be freed from all forms of wrongdoing, immorality, and impurity, and Allah, the Lord of the Universe, bestows His grace upon those who sincerely seek it.

Calling for peace and harmony, Tarique Rahman urged all to renounce violence, bloodshed, hatred, and malice, and to dedicate themselves to tolerance, restraint, and mutual harmony for the greater welfare of humanity.
