DHAKA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) – The state-run Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited today attributed the low gas pressure in households and commercial establishments to drives to disconnect illegal lines and “emergency maintenance” operations in capital’s southern part since the morning.

“Drives are underway to disconnect illegal gas connections from high-pressure pipelines at Shanir Akhra, Rayerbag and Habib Nagar areas in the city,” a Titas spokesman said.

He said both the illegal connections and the punitive campaign to disconnect the lines caused temporary suffering for the residential and commercial consumers in those areas since this morning.

A Titas Gas statement, meanwhile, said their “emergency maintenance” activities coupled with the drives resulted in the low gas pressure at the southern part of the city.

It said the Titas was carrying out the campaign to ensure safe and uninterrupted gas supply and regretted consumers’ temporary inconvenience in parts of areas within the purview of Dhaka South City Corporation.
