RANGPUR, Jan 31, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-nominated MP candidate for Rangpur-2 (Badarganj-Taraganj) constituency ATM Azharul Islam has called on voters to support him by casting their votes for the party's election symbol 'Daripalla' (Scales) to help establish justice and fairness in society.
"Only when justice and fairness are established can the welfare of the people be ensured," he said while addressing an election rally at the Tentultala High School ground in Taraganj Upazila on Saturday night as the chief guest.
Azharul Islam, who is also the central Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, said that following the sacrifices and bloodshed of students and the public during the July Revolution, people now have the opportunity to speak of a fascist-free Bangladesh after what he described as a second independence.
Referring to his own experience, he said, "I was freed after receiving a fair trial in the context of the July Revolution. To protect this independence and the country's sovereignty, we must all work together to build a developed, just and fair society and state."
He stressed the need for active participation in national development, saying people must move forward through education, by ensuring their rights and becoming self-reliant. He also emphasized that honest leadership, patriotism and good character are essential for building the nation.
"If elected, we will uphold the trust of the people and work honestly to guide society and the state along the path of welfare as directed by Almighty Allah," he added.
The rally was presided over by Alampur Union Jamaat President Mohammad Akkas Ali.
