DHAKA, Jan 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has successfully
rescued a three-year old child within 24 hours of a kidnapping incident and
arrested the prime accused along with three accomplices, demonstrating swift
and effective law enforcement action.
The kidnapping occurred in front of Mugda Medical College Hospital in the
capital on January 29 last.
Acting promptly on intelligence and operational coordination, RAB recovered
the unharmed child and arrested the main accused, Md. Chan Mia (41).
Director of the Legal and Media of RAB Wing MZM Intekhab Chowdhury made the
disclosure during a press briefing held at the RAB Media Center in Kawran
Bazar here today.
The RAB official stated that the rapid rescue reflects the force's commitment
to protecting vulnerable citizens, especially children, and responding
decisively to serious crimes.
RAB reiterated that it will continue its relentless efforts to maintain law
and order and ensure public safety across the country.
Intekhab Chowdhury said RAB like other law enforcement agencies has been
working relentlessly to maintain the country's law and order.
Highlighting recent achievements, he said RAB arrested seven suspects
involved in the killing of Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) of RAB-7 Motaleb
Hossain in Chattogram.
The force also detained an armed terrorist with firearms and ammunition in
Dhaka, recovered looted grenades, tear gas shells and rifles from different
areas and seized 6.3 lakh yaba tablets and 10 kilograms of heroin-like drugs
in Cox's Bazar.
It also arrested a key accused in a Taka 8 million robbery case in
Narayanganj.
He added that from January 1 to 30, 2026, RAB arrested around 1,200 criminals
nationwide.
Expressing optimism, the Director General said RAB will further strengthen
its operations to uphold the rule of law, protect human rights, ensure public
security and bring criminals to justice.
