DHAKA, Jan 29, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim today said the nation would act in response to every killing that took place after August 5 through the ballot on February 12. 

“Violence against women would not be tolerated under any circumstances and those involved in violent  acts would be responded by the people through democratic means,” he said.

He was addressing a protest rally at the north gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque this afternoon, organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South protesting violence countrywide, following the killing of a local Jamaat leader Rezaul karim in a clash during a manifesto unveiling programme in the Sherpur-3 constituency yesterday. 

Maulana Abdul Halim said, “Just as the Awami League was forced to leave on August 5, those who are  engaging in violent acts will also have to leave this country on February 12.”

Chaired by Jamaat Central Working Committee member and Dhaka City South Nayeb-e-Ameer Advocate Dr Helal Uddin, the rally was also addressed by Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal as a special guest. 

Criticising the role of the administration, Helal said public anger was growing as no culprits involved in the killing had so far been arrested. “On February 12, the people will respond to every killing through the ballots,” he said.

The rally was conducted by Jamaat Central Majlis-e-Shura member and Dhaka South Assistant Secretary Mohammad Kamal Hossain. 

After the rally, a protest march began from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram and marched through Bijoynagar and Kakrail before ending at Shantinagar. 

During the march, Jamaat leaders and activists voiced their anger by chanting slogans against killings and violence.
