DHAKA, Jan 29, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 1,477 cases against vehicles and drivers for violating traffic rules in the capital in the last 24 hours.
The DMP has been conducting regular drives against traffic violations to bring the city's traffic system under proper management, according to a statement issued today by the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman issued the statement.
During the drive on January 28, police dumped 435 motor vehicles and wrecked 212 others, the statement said.
Several traffic divisions carried out the campaign across the capital. Of the total cases filed, Ramna Traffic Division lodged 88 cases, Lalbagh 115, Motijheel 230, Wari 79, Tejgaon 163, Mirpur 448, Uttara 158 and Gulshan 196 cases against various motor vehicles, including three-wheelers and motorcycles.
The DMP Traffic Division said it is continuing its efforts to discipline traffic movement on Dhaka streets and ensure smooth and safe mobility for commuters.
