DHAKA, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today showed journalist Anis Alamgir 
arrested in a case lodged by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for 
amassing illegal wealth.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, 
allowing a petition filed by the ACC.

The anti-graft body filed the case on January 15. Investigation Officer and 
ACC Assistant Director Akhteruzzaman pleaded to show Anis arrested in the 
case on January 25. 

Anis was taken into Detective Branch (DB) of Police custody on December 14, 
2025, and later showed him arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism 
Act with the city's Uttara West Police Station.

The case was filed by Arian Ahmed, a central organiser of the July 
Revolutionary Alliance, against Anis Alamgir, actress Meher Afroz Shaon and 
two others. The other accused are fashion model Maria Kispatta and presenter 
Imtu Ratish Imtiaz.
