BOGURA, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - Two Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinees
were killed in a tragic road accident at Nandigram upazila of the district on
Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Nihal Sardar, 17, son of Ratan Sardar of
Bhartentulia village under Bhatra Union in Nandigram upazila and Sijanur
Rahman, 17, son of Liton Hossain of Lalpur upazila in Natore district.
Both were students of Nandigram MKG and High School and were scheduled to
appear in the upcoming SSC examinations.
According to police, the accident occurred between Namuit and Dalgachha areas
on the Katham-Kaliganj road.
Nihal and Sijanur were riding a motorcycle towards Shimla Bazar when a
speeding truck coming from the opposite direction collided with their bike,
leaving the duo dead on the spot, the sources added.
The truck involved in the accident fled the scene immediately after the
collision. Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the spot,
recovered the bodies, and sent them to the Nandigram Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandigram Police Station Mizanur Rahman said
efforts are underway to identify the truck and its driver. "Preparations are
being made to take legal action in this regard," he added.
