RAJSHAHI, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS)- After a long 22 years, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to visit Rajshahi tomorrow (Thursday).

A joyful atmosphere is prevailing among BNP's Leaders and activists ahead of the visit. Thursday, Tarique Rahman will visit Rajshahi, then Naogaon, and later Bogura to attend election rallies.

During the rallies, he will present his plans to the people of the region and seek votes for the sheaf of paddy symbol in the upcoming election.

According to party sources, Tarique Rahman will land at Hazrat Shah Makhdum (R) Airport in Rajshahi at 12:00 noon.

From the airport, he is scheduled to head to the historic Madrasa Maidan in Rajshahi by 12:30 pm. However, thousands of party leaders and activists are expected to line the roads to welcome him, which may cause some delay in reaching the rally venue.

Leaders and activists from Rajshahi district and metropolitan area, as well as from Chapainawabganj and Natore, will take part in the Rajshahi rally.

After concluding the rally there, Tarique Rahman will proceed to Naogaon and join a public meeting at the ATM field. From Naogaon, he will travel to Bogura, where he will attend another rally at Altafunnessa Maidan in the evening.

Activists from Joypurhat will participate in the Naogaon rally, while those from Pabna and Sirajganj will join the event in Bogura.

Shafiqul Alam Samapta, convener of the Rajshahi District Krishak Dal, said, "Ever since he decided to come to Rajshahi, we have been recalling the memory of his last visit. We are extremely happy that he is finally coming to Rajshahi after so long. We are eagerly waiting for him with great hope."

BNP leaders and activists expect that 400,000 to 500,000 people from three districts will attend the Rajshahi rally alone, which exceeds the capacity of Madrasa Maidan.
Alongside, many supporters will gather in and around the field.
During the rallies, Tarique Rahman will also introduce 13 BNP candidates contesting from three districts with the sheaf of paddy symbol.

In his speech, Tarique Rahman may highlight his thoughts on the Padma River of Rajshahi, the region's heritage silk industry, and solutions to the water crisis in the Barind area. He may also outline his plans regarding betel leaf, fish, mangoes, and silk production in the region.

Syed Shaheen Shaukat, organizational secretary of BNP's Rajshahi Division, said, "Tarique Rahman last visited Rajshahi in 2004, 22 years ago, when he was the party's senior joint secretary general. At that time, he held discussions to strengthen the BNP organizationally at the grassroots level. He has not visited since then. We are all excited about his arrival after such a long time."
