KHULNA, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - A two-day photo exhibition depicting the life and political struggle of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia opened today at Shaheed Hadis Park in Khulna.

Organised by the Bogura Media and Cultural Society, the exhibition showcases Khaleda Zia's journey from a homemaker to a steadfast leader of Bangladesh's democratic movement, highlighting her sacrifices, leadership, and lifelong dedication to democracy.

Over 100 photographs are on display, covering different phases of her life, including her family background, political rise, key movements, periods of imprisonment, tenure as head of government, and her ongoing efforts to safeguard democracy and citizens' voting rights. Each photograph captures a chapter of her life and tells an emotional story of her struggle.

A special documentary on Khaleda Zia's life and political journey was also screened at the park's open stage, drawing emotional reactions from the audience and introducing younger generations to her political legacy.

The exhibition's inaugural discussion featured former Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Professor Dr Muhammad Masud, as the chief guest.

He said, "Begum Khaleda Zia is not only a politician; she is a symbol of Bangladesh's democratic movement. Her life of struggle will continue to inspire future generations."

The programme was presided over by Rakibul Hasan, Mental Health Development Affairs Secretary of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal, while Khulna City BNP General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin officially inaugurated the exhibition.

Former Member of Parliament Syeda Nargis Ali, President of Bogura Media and Cultural Society Dhaka unit Maruf Rahman, and its General Secretary Sujon Mahmud attended as special guests.

Speakers at the event noted that despite prolonged autocratic rule, repression, and repeated imprisonment, Begum Khaleda Zia never compromised with injustice.

They said her struggle for democracy, voting rights, and citizens' fundamental freedoms will remain an enduring chapter in Bangladesh's political history.

People from various walks of life, including students, political leaders, and general visitors, visited the exhibition. Organisers said the main objective of the two-day exhibition is to bring Khaleda Zia's story of struggle closer to the hearts of the people.
