NOAKHALI, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan on Tuesday said that no citizen of the country would return from a polling centre without casting their vote in the upcoming election scheduled on February 12.

“People of Bangladesh were deprived of voting rights in three general elections. This time, if anyone is prevented from voting, we will build resistance,” he said.

Asif Mahmud made the remarks while addressing an NCP election march as the chief guest at Sebarhat in Senbagh upazila of the district in the afternoon.

He said candidates, who are loan defaulters and foreign citizens, would be shown “red cards”.

Pointing to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Asif Mahmud said the party had promised pension schemes for farmers and workers but failed to implement them during its five-year tenure in power. “Now, no matter how many cards they talk about—farmer cards, family cards—you will not be able to keep your promises,” he said.

He also criticised another political party for repeatedly talking about reforms without clearly outlining any reform agenda. “They are holding rallies and seeking votes, but I have never seen their party chief even mention reforms or a referendum,” he said.

NCP leader Sultan Zakaria, the 11-party alliance-nominated candidate for the Noakhali-2 constituency, along with leaders and activists from various levels of the party, were present at the event.
