Court orders attachment of 4 flats of revenue officer Tayebur

DHAKA, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - A court today ordered the attachment of four flats owned by revenue officer Tayebur Rahman of the Customs, Excise & VAT Commissionerate, in the capital’s Dakshinkhan area.

The flats include two measuring 1,100 square-feet each and two measuring 550 square-feet each.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the ACC plea, the commission filed a case against Tayebur Rahman on charges of acquiring and possessing assets worth Taka 37.12 lakh beyond his known sources of income, and for concealing information and providing false and baseless statements regarding assets worth Taka 50.47 lakh in the asset statement he submitted on March 3, 2025.

During the investigation, reliable sources indicated that he was attempting to transfer, shift or dispose of the assets and flats. If such attempts succeeded, it would frustrate the objectives of the case, including confiscation of crime-derived assets in favour of the government as part of punishment after the conclusion of trial.

Therefore, to facilitate proper investigation, ensure fair trial, and enable confiscation of the properties in favour of the government after submission of charge sheet and completion of trial, the attachment of the immovable properties was deemed absolutely necessary, the plea added.
