We will fight to realize dreams of Abu Sayeed, all martyrs: Jamaat Ameer

RANGPUR, Jan 24, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has vowed to continue to fight to realize the dreams of all martyrs, including Abu Sayeed, the first martyr in the 2024 Mass Uprising. 

"We want to move forward with everyone to build a Bangladesh of justice, fairness and accountability to fulfil the aspirations of the people and all martyrs, InshaAllah. Youth should be ready to snatch the victory of the people," he said. 
 
Jamaat Ameer said this while talking to Martyr Abu Sayeed's family members after visiting his grave in village Babanpur under Madankhali Union of Pirganj Upazila in the district this morning. 
 
He paid rich tribute to Martyr Abu Sayeed's sacrifice and courage, expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and inquired about their overall well-being. 
 
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman hugged Abu Sayeed's father Md Maqbul Hossain and comforted him, as many present at the event became emotional.
 
Standing in the courtyard of Martyr Abu Sayeed's house and addressing the young voters, the Jamaat Ameer said, "I promise the youth that if Allah grants us the 'Tawfeeq', we will build the Bangladesh of your expectations, Insha Allah."
 
"By handing over the keys and leadership of this society to youth, we will give you strength and courage from behind. We will give you support and love," he said. 
 
Urging the youth to get ready to achieve the desired results in the next election, Dr Shafiqur Rahman said, "Get ready, let your vote be a reflection of the next election, you will vote as you like. No one can tamper with your vote."
 
He said, "For this, youth will have to fight once again as July warriors. We have to snatch the victory of the people. We believe that our youth can do it. The work of the commitment that our youth have taken has only begun and is not yet finished."
 
Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Moulana Abdul Halim, Central Working Committee Member Principal Moulana Momtaz Uddin, the party-nominated candidate for Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency Moulana Nurul Amin, Rangpur-4 (Kawnia-Pirgachha) constituency candidate and NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Central Secretary Sibgatullah Sibga and other leaders were present at the time.
 
After visiting the grave of Abu Sayeed and talking to his family members, the Jamaat Ameer left for Palashbari upazila town in Gaibandha by road to attend an election rally there in the morning. 
 
Later, he is scheduled to address election rallies at Bogura district town and then at Sherpur town in Bogura district.
 
Martyr Abu Sayeed, a 12th batch (2019-2020 session) student of the Department of English at Begum Rokeya University was shot dead in police firing during the Anti-Discrimination Movement in front of the university on July 16, 2024. 
 
Martyrdom of Abu Sayeed instantly emerged as a symbol of student movement to motivate all levels of people for participating in the Student-People Mass uprising to oust autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina ending her 16 years of barbaric regime.
