Fifth suspect arrested in Musabbir murder case

DHAKA, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) officials have arrested another suspected shooter involved in the assassination of Swechchhasebak Dal leader Azizur Rahman Musabbir in the capital's Tejgaon area.
 
The suspect, identified as Abdur Rahim was apprehended today morning during a raid in Narsingdi.
 
Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan, Joint Commissioner of the DB, confirmed the arrest.
 
This latest apprehension brings the total number of arrests in the case to five.
 
Investigators had previously arrested three individuals on January 11, including another shooter named Jinnat and the alleged mastermind behind the attack, Billal.
 
The fatal shooting occurred on January 7, shortly after 8:00 PM.
 
According to reports, assailants opened fire in an alley next to Hotel Super Star in the West Tejturi Para area.
 
Azizur Rahman Musabbir was killed in the attack, while his companion, Abu Sufian Bapari Masud, was also shot and injured.
 
The deceased, Musabbir, was a prominent figure in the local political landscape. He formerly served as the Member Secretary of the Dhaka North Swechchhasebak Dal and was the Joint Secretary of the organization's central parliament.
 
The injured victim, Masud, serves as the General Secretary of the Tejgaon Thana Van Workers Union.
