DHAKA, Jan 21, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed six cases against 21persons, including former and serving government officials and former members of the Public Service Commission (PSC), for illegally securing cadre service jobs under the freedom fighter (FF) quota without applying for it in 29th BCS examination.
Director General (DG) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Md. Akhtar Hossain disclosed the information to the journalists at its regular media briefing at the commission headquarters here today.
According to the ACC, the accused by abusing their illegal power and through fraud and forgery in connivance with each other illegally appointed six candidates under various cadres. They were appointed in Administration, Police, Family Planning and General Education cadres despite the fact that they even did not apply for the freedom fighter quota, about six months after the publication of the results of the 29th BCS examination.
Following the investigation, as the allegations were found to be true, separate cases were filed against Deputy Secretary Rakibur Rahman Khan, Deputy Secretary Md. Tofazzal Hossain, Assistant Director (Family Planning) Halima Khatun, Assistant Prof Md. Milton Ali Biswas, Deputy Secretary Nahida Barik and Superintendent of Police Khorshed Alam.
In addition, the names of former PSC chairman A T Ahmedul Haque Chowdhury, Prof Suraiya Begum, Mirza Shamsuzzaman, Brigadier General (Retd.) Abidur Reza Khan, Ehsan Shamim, Prof Rashida Begum, Mohammad Hossain Serniabat, Prof Dr. Emran Kabir Chowdhury, Syed Hasinur Rahman, Ikram Ahmed, Prof Dr. Farida Adib Khanam, Muhammad Liaqat Ali Khan, Chowdhury Md. Babul Hasan, A I M Nesar Uddin and Md Lokman Ahmed were also mentioned as accused for their alleged involvement in the recruitment process.
The ACC said the cases were filed under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 109 of the Penal Code and section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
