DHAKA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - Police has arrested Evaly Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Russell and the company’s Chairman Shamima Nasrin in a late-night operation in Dhanmondi area of the capital.
The arrests were made around 12:10 am today during a special operation conducted by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Wari Division under Dhanmondi Police Station.
Deputy Police Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.
The arrested couple had been absconding for a long time despite having multiple court warrants and cases pending against them.
DB Wari Division sources said a total of 391 warrants had been issued against Mohammad Russell and Shamima Nasrin across various police stations in Dhaka.
Mohammad Russell alone faces 263 warrants in Dhanmondi, Kafrul, and Savar Model police stations, including 83 sentence warrants and 180 CR warrants.
Chairman Shamima Nasrin has 128 warrants in three police stations, comprising 30 sentence warrants and 98 CR warrants.
Police said the arrests were made based on specific intelligence information after prolonged efforts to locate the accused.
Further legal proceedings against them are currently underway.
Evaly, once a prominent e-commerce platform in Bangladesh, has faced widespread scrutiny after failing to deliver products despite collecting advance payments from customers.
