DMP files 2,490 cases against traffic rules violations

DHAKA, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) – As part of the ongoing campaign to bring traffic system under control, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Traffic Division has filed a total of 2,490 cases against vehicles, owners and its drivers for violating traffic rules.

Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that the DMP traffic division conducted campaign against traffic breakers during the last one day and filed cases.

He said that the DMP traffic police dumped 318 motor vehicles and towed 172 vehicles during the campaign against traffic rule violations on January 18.

According to the press release, several teams of the DMP Traffic Division have been working to ensure a disciplined and smooth traffic system in the capital, it said.

The release further said that campaign against traffic violators will continue to ensure discipline on Dhaka's streets.

Ramna division filed 120 cases, Lalbagh division registered 130 cases, Motijheel traffic division filed 226 cases, Wari division registered 715 cases, Tejgaon division filed 193 cases, Mirpur division filed 670 cases, Uttara division registered 234 cases and Gulshan division filed 202 cases against motor vehicles as well as three wheelers and motorcycles, it said.

“These cases were filed by the DMP's Traffic Division on January 19, 2026 after conducting drives in various areas of the capital, the release said.
