DHAKA, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - Ganosamhati Andolon today said attempts to mislead the public by using artificial intelligence (AI) ahead of the national election are increasingly taking on a frightening scale.

In a joint statement Abul Hasan Rubel, convener of the central election management committee of Ganosamhati Andolon and member secretary Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu, said such malicious activities are major threat to a free and fair electoral environment.

They also urged the Election Commission to take immediate and effective measures.

In the statement, the leaders said AI is being used to spread fake news, rumors, and disinformation centering on the election. 

Highly realistic videos and images created with generative AI are being widely circulated on Facebook and other social media platforms, they said, adding that numerous bots and fake IDs are being used to disseminate similar narratives in favor of specific parties.
