The fair has been jointly organised by the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and the Dhaka University Young Columnists’ Forum, with support from Aurora Specialized Hospital Limited.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan inaugurated the book fair as chief guest.
Chaired by DUCSU Vice-President Abu Shadik Kayem, the inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Dr Md Mahfuzur Rahman of Aurora Specialized Hospital Limited.

Thanking the organisers, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan said such initiatives help strengthen the university’s connection with society.
He said Shaheed Osman Hadi always stood for justice, the oppressed and against all forms of dominance. “His killing was not merely the murder of an individual but an attempt to eliminate an ideal,” he added.
He expressed hope that justice for the killing of Shaheed Hadi would be ensured at the earliest.
The memorial book fair is featuring stalls of 22 publishing houses.
The fair will remain open to all visitors daily from 9 am to 9 pm until January 22.
