RAJSHAHI, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS)- Teenage student Sarika Jannat Niha from Bagha Upazila has set an inspiring example of outstanding success in the sports arena in the district.
Niha achieved exceptional distinction through becoming champion in both the singles and doubles categories of badminton in the district-level Bangladesh National School, Madrasa and Technical Winter Annual Sports Competition.
People from all walks of life in Bagha Upazila are proud of her achievement.
Sarika Jannat Niha, 15, is a student of class ten of Dadpur Gargari High School in Gargari Union. Her father, the late Abdul Mottalib was a former principal of Abdul Ghani College.
Although there is no brother among the four sisters in the family, all family members have always provided full support for Niha’s education and sports activities.
Students from various upazilas of Rajshahi District participated in this competition after earning the honor of becoming champions at the upazila level and advancing to the district stage.
In this highly competitive contest, Sarika Jannat Niha proved herself to be the best through her skill, confidence, and consistent performance, earning widespread recognition in the area.
In the final match held at Rajshahi Liberation War Memorial Stadium, she demonstrated excellent mastery and won the district championship titles in both singles and doubles events. Spectators and concerned sports officials were impressed by her performance.
Members of Bagha’s civil society stated that sports are an activity undertaken for recreation and sometimes regarded as a means of gaining knowledge.
It is a distinct form of entertainment practiced either for enjoyment or for rewards.
Sports are generally somewhat different from work and are mainly organized to preserve tradition, aesthetic values, and friendship.
They expressed pride that Sarika Jannat Niha has upheld the honor of the people of Bagha.
Meanwhile, after the competition, in addition to district-level prizes, Bagha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shammi Akter expressed her appreciation by presenting Sarika Jannat Niha with a diary and two pens as encouragement and recognition on Saturday.
Other guests encouraged interest in sports and wished Niha a bright future and continued success.
