COX’S BAZAR, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed today said as BNP is in favour of the July National Charter, a political declaration that was framed based on the consensus by the political parties, it is committed to implementing each proposal of the charter.
The BNP leader said this while addressing as the chief guest at Pekua upazila Ulelma-Mashaikh conference and prize distribution among the students who successfully passed the merit scholarship exams, held at Pekua Upazila Ashraful Uulum Madrasha ground here.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, “We have no comments beyond the July Charter. We are committed to implementing those proposals which were unanimously agreed. We are doing politics for the interest of the people of the country.”
BNP’s politics is to establish peace and order, rule of law, democratic rights and also to ensure constitutional rights, he said, adding that so, the decisions which have been adopted based on national consensus would be followed aiming to bring necessary reforms to this end.
Talking about the constitution, Salahuddin Ahmed said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had included the confidence and belief on the Almighty Allah as the principal for governing the country in the constitution which was later abolished.
Ahmed hoped that if BNP is voted to power again, this principal will be re-established in the constitution.
With Cox’s Bazar district Ulema Dal convener Ali Hasan Chowdhury in the chair, the programme also was addressed, among others, by Mawlana Yasin Soltani, Badarkhali Madinatul Madrasha director Mawlana Solaiman and Ashraful Ulum Madrasha teacher Mawlana Shahidullah. Cox’s Bazar Baitur Rahman Juma Mosque Khatib Quari Ataullah Goni moderated the function.
Later, the guests were distributed prize among the students.
