DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) - The government has decided to verify the registration certificates of all teachers receiving salaries under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) system across the country.
Under this initiative, the registration certificates of more than 36,000 teachers working in schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions in all 64 districts will be verified in phases. As part of a pilot programme, three districts -- Gazipur, Narsingdi and Bhola -- have been selected for the first phase.
In the initial phase, the information and registration certificates of MPO-listed teachers serving in schools, colleges, madrasas and technical institutions in these three districts will be examined. Based on the experience gained from the pilot phase, the verification process will be extended gradually to educational institutions in the remaining districts.
The move comes amid reports in various media outlets about the use of fake registration certificates issued under the Non-Government Teachers' Registration & Certification Authority (NTRCA). Following instructions from the Ministry of Education, the NTRCA has taken a strict stance to identify and take action against holders of fake certificates, said NTRCA Assistant Director Fayezer Ahmed.
He said the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against fake registration certificate holders and warned that strict punitive measures will be taken against any teacher found guilty.
To this end, the NTRCA issued a letter on January 7, signed by its member (Exams, Evaluation and Certification) Muhammad Nur-e Alam Siddiqui. The letter states that, to identify fake certificate holders, it is necessary to verify the details of heads of institutions, assistant heads and all MPO teachers, along with attested copies of the MPO sheet for November 2025 and their registration certificates.
The NTRCA has instructed all educational institutions to submit information on their teachers, vacant posts, the November 2025 MPO sheet, and attested colour photocopies of teachers' registration certificates in a prescribed format. These documents must be sent within seven days through postal service, courier or bearer.
The letter also warned that strict legal action will be taken if any attempt is made to conceal information, tamper with certificates, or deviate from the prescribed submission process.
Copies of the directive have been sent to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and all district and upazila secondary education officers for necessary action.
