DHAKA, Jan 8, 2026 (BSS)- A murder case has been filed today in connection with the killing of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal leader Azizur Rahman Musabbir at city’s Kawran Bazar area last night.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tejgaon Division of DMP Fazlul Karim tld BSS that the case has been filed with Tejgaon thana by the victim’s wife Suraiya Begum. Police are on hot pursuit to capture the perpetrators, he said.

Musabbir was shot dead by unidentified assailants around 8:15pm Wednesday while returning home. 

The incident occurred in an alley behind Star Kabab at Tejturi Bazar in Tejgaon. Another individual, Abu Sufian, who was accompanying Musabbir at the time, was also shot during the attack.

Both victims were first taken to nearby BRB Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. 

The on-duty doctors declared Musabbir dead upon arrival, while Abu Sufian, who sustained serious injuries is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Police said an investigation is underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing.
