KHULNA, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) – Authorities of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) have expressed deep shock and sorrow at the untimely demise of Sharif Osman Hadi, a frontline fighter of the July uprising and spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha.

Sharif Osman Hadi passed away on Thursday night while undergoing treatment in Singapore. 

His sudden death has cast a pall of gloom over the university community. The KUET administration conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Seeking eternal peace of the departed soul, a doa mahfil was held on Friday after Juma prayers at the university’s Central Jame Mosque, organised by the university authorities.

The doa mahfil was attended by KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Maksud Helali, along with teachers, students, officers and employees of the university. 

Deans of various faculties, institute directors, the registrar, departmental heads and senior administrative officials were also present.

During the prayers, participants recalled the late leader’s courage and sacrifices for the country and prayed for his place in Jannatul Ferdous.

The doa mahfil was conducted by the Imam of the Central Jame Mosque, Hafez Maulana Mufti Jubayer Hasan.

Meanwhile, as part of the state mourning declared in memory of Sharif Osman Hadi, the national flag will be kept at half-mast at KUET on Saturday. 

All academic activities of the university will remain suspended on that day, while revised schedules of postponed examinations will be announced later.
