DHAKA, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS): A court here today imposed a travel ban on Senior Assistant Secretary (Officer on Special Duty) Md Kamal Hossain of the Ministry of Public Administration and five others over graft allegations.
The other individuals barred from leaving the country include Kamal's father Md Abul Kashem, mother Habia Khatun, uncle Md Ahsan Habib, and aunt Sanoara Khatun.
The court also imposed a travel ban on now suspended Additional Taxes Commissioner Mirza Ashik Rana.
Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court (Vacation Bench) passed the orders, approving separate petitions submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the petition filed against Kamal and his family members, the senior assistant secretary participated in the 35th BCS examination and secured a position in the administration cadre under the Freedom Fighter quota by fraudulently presenting his uncle and aunt as his parents instead of his actual father and mother.
The ACC has filed a case regarding the matter, and an investigation officer has been appointed to conduct the inquiry and submit a report.
Reliable sources indicate that the accused, Md Kamal Hossain, along with other associated individuals, may attempt to flee the country.
In the interest of a fair investigation, the court deemed it necessary to prohibit the foreign travel of the accused and four other individuals connected to him.
In the separate petition against Mirza Ashik Rana, the ACC said it had already appointed an investigation officer to examine allegations regarding the asset statement submitted by him and to submit a report after verification.
During the investigation, it was learned from confidential sources that the person concerned may attempt to leave the country, making it essential to bar his foreign travel.
