KURIGRAM, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS)- Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna today hoped that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will recover soon and be fit for taking part in the coming election.

Recalling her contribution to the country’s every democratic movement, Manna said, “She suffered a lot. We want her to participate in the coming election after recovering from illness.”

Manna said there are concerns about Begum Khaleda Zia's health and that is why there are also concerns about the election schedule. 

“However, we want her to recover quickly and the election to be held on time,” he said while talking to journalists after inaugurating the Nagorik Oikya district office in Kurigram.

Responding to a question over political alliance, he said talks are ongoing on but no consensus has been finalised yet with anyone. 

“We don't want to do anything alone, but we want to move forward with everyone,” he said.

Nagorik Oikya General Secretary Shahidullah Kaiser, Central Member Abdur Razzak, District Committee Convener Bir Muktijoddha (retd) Major Abdus Salam and Member Secretary Johbadul Islam Bablu were present, among others.

Later, he addressed a rally of freedom fighters at Bijoy Stambha (victory monument) at College Crossing.
