Annie calls for remaining alert until an elected govt

LAKHMIPUR, Nov 22, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee at a meeting here today urged all to remain very vigilant until an elected government comes into the country.

"An elected parliament and voted people's representatives is a must . . . But we have to be very vigilant and careful until the elected government and elected representatives come through holding a fair polls," said Annie, also the BNP nominated candidate for the 'Paddy Sheaf' from Lakhmipur-3 (Sadar) constituency.

He added: "There will be normal, fair and systematic elections in the country soon and everyone will participate in that polls."

The BNP leader was speaking at the women's party of Ward No. 7, 8 and 9 of Uttar Joypur Union in Sadar upazila of the district as the chief guest at the Chowpalli KD High School ground today.

"Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was the proclaimer of the Bangladesh Independence. He led the War of Liberation in 1971. President Ziaur Rahman was an honest and simple man. He was the leader of rural people as well," he mentioned.

Noting that Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has been tortured in many ways during the long movement while BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman was also a victim of torture forcing him to stay outside the country, Anee said, "Tarique Rahman will return home very soon."

Despite being a victim of so much torture, attacks, cases and disappearances, BNP has not harmed anyone. It had no autocratic, fascist and terrorist attitude in the past, the BNP leader said there is not such attitudes right now also. 

"BNP is the party of the masses and Ziaur Rahman was the leader of the mass-people including the rural ones . . . The national leader Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman are also working to materialize the dream of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman," Annie told the party leaders and workers that the acting BNP chairman, staying abroad, has been leading the united movement which brought all parties politicians as well as country's people together.

Referring to the fleeing away of erstwhile Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the face of mass movement and subsequent political situation, the BNP central leader observed that her conspiracy has not stopped yet.

"Now it is an interim government. There will be a normal election environment in the country. The election atmosphere has been created," he pointed out.
 
District BNP leader Advocate Hafizur Rahman, Chandraganj Thana BNP President Belal Hossain, its General Secretary Yusuf Bhuiyan, District Women's Party President Sabera Anwara and its General Secretary Sumi Begum, along with leaders and activists of North Joypur Union BNP, Jubodal, Chhatra Dal and other affiliated organisations were present there.
