CHATTOGRAM, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Navy ship 'Protyay' has departed from Chattogram to take part in the International Fleet Review in Colombo from November 27-30, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lankan Navy.
The ship is expected to return on December 5. A ceremonial farewell was given to the ship with a band performance following Navy traditions today.
Commander Chattogram Naval Area Rear Admiral Md. Moinul Hasan was the chief guest and delivered a speech to the ship's officers and sailors. Local naval officers and family members of the ship's crew were also in attendance. The Navy's ships will take part in the international fleet review alongside representatives, observers, and military experts from various countries.
A total of 150 naval personnel, including 29 officers, will join the International Fleet Review under the command of Captain Touhidul Haque Bhuiyan, the commander of the Bangladesh Navy ship 'Protyay'.
This event will play a crucial role in enhancing diplomatic relations among participating nations, combating criminal activities like piracy, drug smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal fishing, and promoting global cooperation in humanitarian aid and disaster management.
Over the past few years, the Bangladesh Navy has showcased its professionalism and expertise by taking part in international fleet reviews hosted by different countries.
