DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has extended support to elderly Abdul Gani Jamaddar and his wife.

Recently, various media outlets reported that 70-year-old Abdul Gani Jamaddar and his 50-year-old wife Momtaz Begum have been living in a dilapidated, electricity-less home at a housing project of Ward No. 7 under Chhoto Bighai Union in Patuakhali Sadar upazila. 

With no employment, poor health and no one to support them, the elderly couple had been leading a life of extreme hardship for a long time. 

After the grim reality of their dark home and days spent in hunger and semi-starvation came to light, the matter drew nationwide attention.

The plight of this helpless elderly couple came to the notice of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. He then instructed Atiqur Rahman Ruman, convener of “Amra BNP Paribar,” to stand beside them.

A delegation from “Amra BNP Paribar” visited the couple on behalf of Tarique Rahman this morning.

Amra BNP Paribar Convener Atiqur Rahman Ruman, Member Secretary Agriculturist Mokhsedul Momin Mithun, journalist Jahidul Islam Roni, Amra BNP Paribar members Masud Rana Liton, Mustakim Billah, Shakil Ahmed and Farhad Ali Sojib were present.

Patuakhali District BNP President Snehangshu Sarkar Kutti, General Secretary Advocate Mujibur Rahman Toton, former Jubo Dal leader Taufiq Ali Khan Kabir, Central Joint Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Raju Ahmed, former BUET Chhatra Dal General Secretary Engineer Abu Hanif and Banani BNP leader Sayham Sikandar Pappu were also present.
