DHAKA, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) -The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 43 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations for their alleged involvement in sabotage attempts and organizing illegal “flash processions” in various parts of the capital.
According to DB officials, the arrests were made during special drives conducted over the past 24 hours in several areas, including Wari, Lalbagh, Motijheel, Tejgaon, Mirpur, Gulshan, Ramna, Uttara, and the Cyber Crime Division.
Among the arrestees - prominent political figures, including Md. Mominul Haque Titu, Joint General Secretary of Gazaria Thana Awami League in Munshiganj; Md. Sabuj, Jubo League President of Ward 8, Dhaka South; Md. Mosharraf Hossain Alamgir, Religious Affairs Secretary of the Central Krishak League; and Sultana Rabeya Popy, President of Dhaka Metropolitan North Mahila League.
DB officials reported that the detainees are active members of banned political groups accused of instigating unrest and organizing anti-state activities.
One of the arrestees, Advocate SM Abul Hossain, has been identified as a key organizer behind the Awami League’s underground sudden processions.
The operation was part of DB’s ongoing efforts to maintain public order and prevent acts of sabotage in the capital.
