DHAKA, Nov 10, 2025 (BSS) - Primary school teachers forum have called off their movement today after discussion with the government high ups, said an official press release.
The release said the decision was taken following a meeting of the leaders of Primary Teachers' Demand Implementation Council with Finance Division secretary Dr M Khayruzzaman Majumder and officials of the primary and mass education ministry.
Primary and Mass Education secretary Abu Taher M Masud Rana, other senior officials of the finance division and the concerned officials of the primary and mass education ministry also attended the meeting.
Primary school teachers were on indefinite movement for upgrading the pay scale of assistant teachers from the 13th to the 10th grade, resolving complications regarding higher-grade benefits after 10 and 16 years of service and ensuring 100 percent departmental promotion from assistant teacher to head teacher.
The finance secretary assured the teachers that a proposal for upgrading salary of the assistant teachers to 11th grade has been sent to the National Pay Commission-2025 and it is now under consideration of the commission.
The finance secretary said after getting the recommendation of the national pay commission, the finance division will take necessary action in this regard,
Regarding the complications on getting higher grade after 10 and 16 years services, the finance secretary said the finance division will take decision in this regard if it gets any proposal from the primary and mass education ministry.
About the 100 percent departmental promotion of the teachers to the posts of head teacher the meeting decided that the ministry of primary and mass education will take steps in this regard as per the existing rules of the public administration ministry, the release said.
