SAVAR, Nov 7, 2025 (BSS) – Police arrested eight leaders and activists of the banned Awami League (AL) on charge of planning to create violence centering their reported lockdown programme at Savar and Dhamrai area.
Police said as the banned Awami League has declared nationwide lockdown programme on November 13 and police arrested Awami League and its associate bodies leaders and activists on charge of planning to create violence ahead of the lockdown programme.
The arrestees are SavarupazilaChhatra League vice-president Tanjirul Islam, 20, Chhatra League activist Tariqul Islam Topu, 23, Birulia union 3 no ward Jubo League general secretary Ruhul Amin, 32, Awami League activist Mokhlesur Rahman who also brother of former upazila chairman, AshuliaDhansona union Jubo League Information affairs secretary Obaidul Bhuiyan, 32, Pathalia union Chhatra League labour affairs secretary Hridoy, 25, Pathalia union Sramik League vice president Mohammad Ali, 35 and Dhaka district uttarChhatra League health affairs deputy secretary Parvez Kabir, 23.
“The leaders and activists have been arrested on charge of planning to create anarchy”, said Officer in Charge (OC) of Savar Model police station Helal Uddin, adding that cases have been filed against them under anti-terrorism act and they have been sent to the court for seeking remand.
