65.68 pc  construction progress of metro Kamalapur part

DHAKA, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) – The overall construction progress of the extended 1.16 kg metro line from Motijheel to Kamalapur has so far reached 65.68 percent, official said.

“The physical work for the Motijheel-Kamalapur section of the Dhaka Metro Rail project is progressing fast,” a Metro Rail Line-6 project official told BSS here today.

He said the authorities are expecting to complete the 1.16-kilometre metro rail track from Motijheel to Kamalapur by next year, as work on extending MRT Line-6 is going on in full swing.

According to the metro project, the authorities focused of intense construction activities, including agreements for installing electrical and mechanical systems.

Meanwhile, the government has saved Tk.185 crore from electro-mechanical work of the metro rail particularly in Motijheel-Kamalapur section.

The contracting company submitted the tender in June 2018 for the electro-mechanical system work of Motijheel to Kamalapur section, which was appointed recently with effective negotiation, according to a ministry official.

He said the Revised Development Project Proposal (RDPP) (Second Amendment) had allocated Tk.274 crore for this section, which was also approved as expenditure.

According to metro rail project, as of October 30, 2025, the actual average progress of the Uttara Uttar-Motijheel section reached 99.45 percent, while the Motijheel-Kamalapur section recorded 65.68 percent.

It said construction of all station columns has been completed, while all 298 precast segments have been finished at the construction yard.

So far, 22 out of 27 spans have been installed, and the total length of the concourse roof (180 metres), track slabs, and platform slabs has been completed. The project details also said that all 824 precast parapet walls have been installed.

The total length of Bangladesh’s first Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line from Diabari-Mirpur-Farmgate-Motijheel-Kamalapur is 21.26 kilometres. Commercial operation of the metro rail from Uttara to Motijheel began in November 2023.

Now the first train leaves Motijheel station at 7 am, which was 7:30 am and the last train leaves at 10:10 pm, which was 9:40 pm Saturday-Thursday), according to new schedule of the metro train.

It said the first train leaves Uttara Uttar station at 6:40 am, where it was left earlier at 7:10 am. The last train leaves at 9:30 pm, which was earlier at 9 pm.
