DHAKA, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas today called upon party leaders and activists to stay united and work collectively to ensure the party's victory in the upcoming national elections slated for February 2026.

"The nominations have been good. Many may feel hurt, but Tarique Rahman made the decisions after much consideration," Abbas said, adding, "We have embarked on a massive electoral journey. Everyone must work together, remain united and ensure the party's victory," he told a discussion and doa mahfil at the BNP's central office in Naya Paltan, marking the sixth death anniversary of valiant freedom fighter and former Dhaka City mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka.

The senior BNP leader questioned how those who opposed Bangladesh's independence in 1971 could now seek to govern the country.

"A political party wants to divide the nation by using religion. How can those who didn't want Bangladesh now want to rule it?" he said.

Abbas also criticized the government's failure to address unemployment, urban congestion, and growing poverty, saying, "Everyone talks about reform, but what reform has been achieved? The number of jobless people and street shops is rising and the government has no focus on these issues."

He urged party members to remain focused on organizational strength and public support,
