DHAKA, Nov 2, 2025 (BSS) — Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher today said that reform is indispensable for Bangladesh’s development, democracy, and good governance, affirming that the party will make no compromise on the issue.
“Reform is essential for the people of Bangladesh, for democracy, for good governance and for development. We will make no compromise on the question of reform," he said.
He was addressing a seminar titled “The Black Claw of Fascism from October 28 to August 5 and the Challenges of Future Bangladesh” at the Institution of Diploma Engineers’ multipurpose hall in Kakrail.
Dr. Taher underscored the need for political and institutional reforms as the foundation for the country’s democratic future.
He said Jamaat-e-Islami remains committed to a three-step process for ensuring the nation’s democratic consolidation — reform, justice, and election.
“In February — our first priority is reform; second, trial; and third, we will assist in implementing your dream of a festive, people-oriented election,” he added.
Dr. Taher warned against any attempts to reintroduce fascism or concentrate power in the hands of a few, saying that such actions could lead to fascism.
“Fascism does not fall from the sky. It grows when excessive power is concentrated in one person’s hands. The people of Bangladesh want that system changed,” he said.
Dr. Taher lauded the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and urged him to continue with the reform initiatives. “If you carry these reforms properly, your name will be written in the history of Bangladesh as an exceptional leader. We want to see you as a hero,” he added.
He further said that the interim government’s responsibility was not to please any political party but to act in the interest of the nation.
Dr. Taher called upon the advisory council to play a strong role in ensuring national welfare and warned that compromise or confusion in the reform process could push the nation back into uncertainty.
“Our commitment is with the people. If confusion is created through compromise, the entire process will fall into uncertainty, and the nation could once again drift into darkness,” he said.
Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, JAGPA Vice President and Party Spokesperson Rashed Pradhan and Islami Andolon Bangladesh presidium member Ashraf Ali Akand also addressed the seminar, Chaired by Jamaat Dhaka City South Ameer Md. Nurul Islam Bulbul.
Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami's Dhaka South unit, conducted the seminar.
