BAF Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025 concludes

DHAKA, Oct 28, 2025 (BSS) - The closing ceremony of the Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025 of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) was held today at Falcon Hall, Dhaka Cantonment.

Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan attended the ceremony as the chief guest, said an ISPR press release.

In his closing remarks, the chief guest lauded the month-long awareness programme saying that this campaign not only engaged Air Force personnel but also involved their families and the wider community in important discussions on cyber security.

He stated that cyber security rests on three pillars — people, process, and technology — among which people are the most important. “No matter how advanced technology becomes, without conscious and cautious users, it cannot be effective. Every click, every decision determines our security,” he added.

During the event, various initiatives undertaken to build cyber awareness and resilience were highlighted in the presence of military officers, academics, cyber security experts, and members from different IT partner organizations.

The awareness campaign included special briefings for officers, air force personnel, and their families, distribution of educative posters and booklets, and interactive sessions.

The cyber awareness messages reached over 17,000 students from grades 8 to 12 in all Shaheen Schools across the country — a major step toward building a cyber-aware future generation, the release said.

Under the leadership of the Chief of Air Staff, the Bangladesh Air Force has developed a Cyber Defense Roadmap, aligned with the national strategy for creating a secure, smart, and sovereign cyberspace. The roadmap emphasizes collaboration with the government, educational institutions, and industry sectors.

To ensure long-term impact, the Air Force has taken steps to incorporate cyber awareness at every level of its training framework so that every member remains alert to evolving digital threats.

Professor S. M. Shamim Reza attended the event as a special speaker and delivered a lecture on “Misinformation, Disinformation, and the Impact of Social Media in the Digital Era.” His speech highlighted the importance of responsibility and critical thinking in digital behavior.

Officers from the Ministry of Defence, ICT Division, the Armed Forces Division, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, teachers from various educational institutions, and representatives from different IT organizations attended the programme.
