DHAKA, Oct 19, 2025 (BSS)- The members of the Counter Terrorism and
Transnational Crime (CTTC) today arrested two leaders of Awami League (AL)
and its banned student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) from Turag and
Mirpur areas of the capital.
The arrested are-- Md Zahid Sarkar, a member of the AL central Sub-Committee
and Dastogir Islam Sajib, former general secretary of Natore N S Government
College.
Acting on secret information, a team of the CTTC conducted a raid at Metro
Rail Station at Mirpur-11 around 2.30pm and arrested Md Zahid Sarkar. He is
also accused in three criminal cases in different police stations.
Besides, another team of the unit, acting on a tip-off, arrested Sajib, who
had been hiding in Dhaka after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on
August 5 last year, from the city's Baunia area under Turag Thana at about 12
noon.
He organised 'flash processions' in different areas of the capital in
different times and joined those rallies personally, the CTTC sources said.
"Sajib was also involved in manufacturing cocktails and various types of
terrorist activities in the capital for a long time," the officials said,
adding that he was also accused in five criminal cases including murder with
Natore Sadar Thana.
Lawful actions were taken against the arrested persons, the release added.
